The short version. KidRun has no accounts. We don't collect, sell or share your family's data. There are no analytics, no ads and no third-party code in the app. Your schedule is stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account, run by Apple. When you claim or pick up a kid, a short message passes through our notification relay so your partner sees it right away. It's used only for that and deleted within a day.
Who we are
KidRun is made by Lion Code d.o.o., Mladena Kerstnera 42, 10410 Velika Gorica, Croatia ("Lion Code", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@kidrun.app.
This policy covers the KidRun iPhone app, including its widgets and Live Activities, and this website, kidrun.app.
Information you put in KidRun
To work, KidRun stores the information you enter:
| What | Examples |
|---|---|
| Family | Family name, the names you and your partner choose to show, and a color for each of you |
| Kids | Name, color, and optionally a birthday and a photo |
| Schedule | Schools and activities, days and times, places (as text you type), notes, seasons, one-off events, and moved, cancelled or extra sessions |
| Pickups | Who said I'm On It and when, and who marked a kid as Picked Up and when |
| Settings on this iPhone | Reminder times, Morning Digest, Live Activity switches, appearance and app color |
This information is stored on your iPhone and synced through your iCloud account as described below. We never receive your schedule. The only exception is the short pickup messages described in Notifications. Settings on this iPhone stay on the device and don't sync.
iCloud
If you're signed in to iCloud, KidRun saves your family in your private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit, so it's backed up and available after you reinstall or switch iPhones. Apple stores and processes this data under the Apple Privacy Policy and the iCloud terms you accepted. Apple may store it in data centers outside your country.
The developer of an app can't read the contents of a user's private iCloud database, so Lion Code has no access to your family's data. KidRun also stores an anonymous iCloud user identifier for each family member, which Apple provides to tell members apart. It doesn't reveal your name, email address or Apple Account.
If you aren't signed in to iCloud, or iCloud is turned off for KidRun, your data stays only on that iPhone.
Sharing with your partner
When you tap Invite Partner, KidRun creates an iCloud share of your family and you choose how to send the link. Anyone who joins can see and edit the whole family: kids, schedule, notes, photos and pickups. They also see the name you chose to show in KidRun. Only people you invite can join. Apple handles the share and the invitation link.
You can stop sharing at any time in Family > Manage Sharing. If you joined someone else's family, you can remove yourself there, and their family is removed from your iPhone.
Notifications
Reminders and the Morning Digest are created on your iPhone from your own data. To learn that your partner changed something, KidRun relies on iCloud, which uses Apple's push notification service to wake the app. These pushes don't contain the contents of your schedule.
When you say you're on a pickup, mark a kid as picked up, or let go of a pickup, KidRun sends a short message through our notification relay, so your partner's iPhone shows it right away, even when KidRun is closed. The relay is used only for these notifications. It runs on Cloudflare, which processes the data on our behalf.
To deliver the message, the relay receives:
- The message itself: the name you chose to show, the kid's name, the activity, its place and time, and whether you're on it or picked up.
- Random identifiers for your family, your iPhone and you as a member. KidRun creates them and they don't reveal who you are.
- The push tokens Apple gives KidRun to send notifications and Live Activity updates to your iPhone, and which activities have Live Activities turned off.
The relay passes the message to Apple's push notification service for your partner's iPhones. It keeps the latest message for a pickup only until that pickup is over, at most one day, so a Live Activity that starts later shows it, then deletes it. Identifiers and push tokens are deleted when an iPhone no longer receives notifications, or after 180 days without use. The relay doesn't know your email address, Apple Account or phone number, and doesn't log the contents of messages. Cloudflare may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, for a short period to keep the service secure and running.
The legal basis is providing the feature you use (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Cloudflare may process data outside your country, under the safeguards required by the GDPR.
Photos and location
If you add a photo of a kid, you choose it with Apple's photo picker. KidRun only gets the photo you pick and never has access to the rest of your library.
KidRun doesn't use your location. The place of an activity is text you type. When you tap it, KidRun opens Apple Maps with that text, and Apple Maps' own privacy terms apply.
What we don't do
- No account, sign-up or login.
- No analytics, tracking or advertising, and no third-party SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No servers that store your schedule. The notification relay only passes pickup messages along.
- No access to your contacts, calendars, camera or location.
Information Apple gives us
Like every App Store developer, we may see statistics from Apple about downloads and usage, and crash reports from people who chose to share analytics with app developers in their iPhone settings. Apple gives us this information in aggregate and without identifying you. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
When you contact us
If you email us, or use Report a Bug or Suggest a Feature in the app, we receive your email address and your message. Report a Bug also adds the KidRun version, iOS version and iPhone model so we can find the problem. You see the email before you send it and can remove anything.
We use this only to reply to you and improve KidRun. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your request (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We keep these emails only as long as we need them to help you, then delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Our email is hosted by SETCOR d.o.o..
This website
kidrun.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Our hosting provider, SETCOR d.o.o., may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for a short period to keep the site secure and running.
Children
KidRun is made for parents and guardians, not for children. Children don't use the app and we don't collect personal information from children. Information about your kids is entered by you and stays on your devices and in your iCloud, where we can't access it. Only a kid's name and the pickup pass through the notification relay, as described in Notifications. Only add information about children you're responsible for.
Deleting your data
Delete a kid, activity or event directly in the app. To delete everything:
- If you share your family, stop sharing in Family > Manage Sharing.
- Open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud and Manage Storage.
- Choose KidRun and delete its data.
- Delete the KidRun app from your iPhone.
Pickup messages on the notification relay are deleted automatically within a day. Identifiers and push tokens are deleted automatically once your iPhone stops using them, or after 180 days.
To delete emails you sent us, write to support@kidrun.app.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because your KidRun data is stored on your devices and in your iCloud, you can view, change and delete it yourself at any time. For any data we hold, such as support emails or data on the notification relay, contact us and we'll reply within 30 days.
If you're in the EU, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In Croatia, that's the Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP), azop.hr.
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law: we don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
Security
Your data is protected by your iPhone's security and by iCloud, including encryption in transit and at rest. The app talks to the notification relay only over an encrypted connection. Keep your Apple Account secure with a strong passcode and two-factor authentication.
Changes to this policy
If KidRun changes the way it handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also tell you in the app or in the App Store release notes.
